“NHS England’s Mental Health Communications Team worked with Deadline Digital to produce eight case studies videos, as well as eight NHS70 videos – and we’ve been really pleased with the results. The team was very professional, assisting us in every steps of the project development and advising us on content and format. We’ve been impressed by their flexibility and their ability to understand our specific needs – especially when filming patients. We’re already planning to use their services again.”
Pauline Dowdall – Strategic Communications Manager, Mental Health Team – NHS England
We regularly work with local and national NHS organisations to capture the stories of patients and staff. Recently, we were proud to support NHS England’s Mental Health Team.
Services delivered:
- Pre/post production & planning
- Filming & staffing
- Editing, graphics & subtitling
- Chroma key social media videos
- Music
- Post handover support & supply of file formats
The brief:
We worked with the Mental Health Communications Team at NHS England to produce a series of case study videos for web, social media and for use at external events.
The team were looking for a fresh, non-corporate feel to their videos to help tell stories from both patients and staff. Having filmed a number of NHS mental health use studies in the past, we knew just how to capture people’s first-hand experience in a positive and relatable way.
There were two story themes to capture:
- Showcase how the Five Year Forward View Mental Health programme is being delivered.
- Proudest moments of working in mental health and how this has changed over time to coincide with the NHS’ 70th anniversary.
The video content formed part of a wider case study package that the NHS England team was producing in-house which included written case studies, social media content and infographics.
Target audiences for this work:
- Influencers
- NHS and third sector service providers
- Decision makers and commissioners
- Patients with mental health conditions accessing NHS services
Video journalist, Ben Housam was a key part of the Deadline Digital team delivering this project:
“I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project from start to finish. It was a complex brief, with lots of staff and patients to plan our filming schedule around, so that made it an exciting challenge for us. I really enjoy interviewing patients, as well as health professionals, and it was fascinating finding out about the different mental health services being offered across the country. I wanted to bring to life some of the personal stories we heard about and I hope the audiences watching the videos are able to get an insight in to the fabulous work NHS mental health staff carry out on a daily basis.”
