Deadline Digital have been along to video Barnsley’s new indoor market, which officially opened to the public this month.
The team spoke to traders and shoppers to see what they made of the new premises.
The markets have re-designed and updated as part of The Glassworks redevelopment scheme, a 120 million pound investment in Barnsley. It’s the first part of town’s redevelopment to be opened.
The new market has over 100 stalls, with over 60 on the ground floor as well as another 40 on the first floor.
Deborah Lynch works in the florist ‘Cloverfield Flowers’ and says she loves working on the new market:
“Working here is like our home. It’s more of a home than we’ve got! “You get to see everyone on a daily basis. “It’s something for us all to show off!”

The indoor market has undergone extensive refurbishment meaning it now offers wider aisles, more seating areas and free Wi-Fi.
Nikkie Higgs from Sweet Treats praised the council for their work on the markets.
“It makes you feel proud and it makes you want to come to work in the morning. “I’ve seen a lot of change in Barnsley and to see the way things are going and to see the final product, it’s fantastic.”
