Barnsley-based video production company Deadline Digital has teamed up with local government to create a set of videos highlighting employee wellbeing.
Be Well @ Work is a free initiative introduced by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to help businesses of all sizes improve the health and wellbeing of their employees.
The Council commissioned the public sector video experts to film two case studies with local businesses, Premier Foods and Distinction Doors. These promotional videos have been used in email marketing campaigns and across social media to encourage Barnsley businesses to sign up to the scheme.
Deadline Digital went behind the scenes at a Mr Kipling factory and a composite door manufacturer to assess the impact of the wellbeing initiatives on employees and encourage other businesses to take part.
Julia Sykes, Workplace Health Officer at Barnsley Council worked alongside Deadline Digital to bring the videos to life.
“The crew were friendly and patient and immediately put you at ease. You can just leave them to get on with it. Through the research they are able to ask the right questions in a number of different ways to ensure that the key messages of the brief are delivered.”
Julia Sykes
The Deadline team interviewed Julia along with HR managers from both businesses. The film crew also filmed exclusive b-roll footage of both the cake factory and the door manufacturing companies hard at work.
Both case study videos and the overview video were delivered ahead of the deadline.
“The editing turn round times were very quick. In our case the videos that were produced were just what we asked for without any need for amendments, which was great!”

Premier Foods
At Premier Food’s Carlton bakery in Barnsley, ovens and conveyer belts are working around the clock. It is one of the two sites in the UK that make and export Mr Kipling products internationally.
Through the factory doors, Deadline Digital had a sneak peak into how sweet treat favourites such as battenberg and French fancies are made.
With over 700 employees, Premier Foods introduced Be Well @ Work initiatives such as blood pressure checks, stop smoking clinics and wellbeing champions.
Distinction Doors
In Tankersley, Barnsley, a local door manufacturer also introduced Be Well @ Work initiatives for their employees.
With a male-dominated workforce, Distinction Doors felt that it was important to implement a health and wellbeing committee.
“The Be Well @ Work initiatives that we brought in got a lot of engagement. We’ve seen a massive increase with how are employees are.
“They’re much more open and happier beings themselves.”
Jessica Marsh – HR Officer, Distinction Doors
